We have lots of opportunities for service in an urban area with a large Hispanic population. Our congregation is active in the Pearl Street Character Club - a Saturday morning children's ministry serving the emotional, spiritual and physical needs of inner city children from various backgrounds. The four brothers listed above take turns preaching and teaching. We do not have any paid positions; however, all of the congregation is active in various ways. As of September 2010, we began our seventh year of the Character Club Ministry, which has touched about 50 children each Saturday. As of this date approximately 20 to 25 of those children also attend church and/or Bible class on Sunday. This seems to be God's purpose for us in south Reading. We have also been sponsoring an area-wide Hymn Sing when there is a fifth Sunday in a given month. The Hymn Sing is on the fifth Sunday starting at 4 pm. We'd love for you to visit.
