Why do I have to do anything else if I believe in Jesus? What if I believe in Jesus, but don't want to believe the way you do? Why are there so many faiths? |
James writes that "faith without works is dead". By this he means that faith without works of obedience is no faith at all. In James 2:24 he writes, "that by works a man is justified, and not by faith only". Some confuse this with the works of the law in the Old Testament, but the New Tesament clearly tells us that there are things we must do to remain faithful. Paul wrote in Ephesians that there is "one Lord, one faith, one baptism...one God above all". This indicates that there is only one way & that is the way that the New Testament teaches. It is not my way, we want to follow God's way & His way only (Hebrews 11:6). Paul speaks in the I Corinthian (12:12) epistle of there being many members, but there is only "one body" to which Christ is the head. The phrase, "one body", is used in several other passages (Romans 12:4-5, Ephesians 2:16, Colossians 3:15, & Ephesians 4:4), and in each case it refers to the church for which Christ died & is the head (Colossians 1:18 & Ephesians 1:22-23). So the Bible speaks of only one church! |
